Autac’s Everest challenge raises £11k for Prevent Breast Cancer

Autac Products Ltd’s Managing Director David Lowe has completed his gruelling trek to the Base Camp of Mount Everest in support of Prevent Breast Cancer.

It proved an unforgettable challenge as David describes,

“I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to take part in such a life-affirming event. But boy, was it tough!

I consider myself relatively fit but every step was tiring due to the lack of oxygen. It was being part of such an incredibly positive and supportive group of people, and amongst such inspiring scenery, that lifted my spirits and energy levels each and every day. That and of course the memory of my sister-in-law Julie, who lost her 4-year battle with breast cancer at the age of only 51.

As Christmas approaches, Julie’s absence is all the more marked for our family and I, like my fellow trekkers, want to do all I can to prevent other families from suffering such loss.

Reaching Everest base camp and knowing that I had raised £11k for Prevent Breast Cancer (more than double my fundraising target) was a feeling of euphoria I’ve never experienced.  Better still, our collective team of trekkers including local business people and Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor, raised a collective £132k for the charity.

I would certainly recommend the Everest trek to base camp to anyone looking to take a leap out of their comfort zone and, better still, to raise money for good causes at the same time.”

The sun may have set for David on this particular adventure but he’s already on the lookout for his next challenge…any suggestions will be considered!
